Shankar Narayanan
CEO and Founder
Mr. Shankar Narayanan is a successful entrepreneur in the Silicon Valley. Prior to founding Spime Inc, Narayanan co-founded Emuzed Inc, a mobile multimedia leader in the year 2000, this company introduced the world's first audio and video synchronized camcorder application and over 25 mobile applications which were licensed to Nokia and most of the top cell phone manufacturers. Flextronics International acquired Emuzed in early 2005. Shankar steered the company from founding to acquisition with his excellence in innovation of technology, sales, marketing and operational management expertise. After Flextronics’s acquisition, Shankar Narayanan headed Flextronics’s Mobile and Handset devices software division as Vice President and General Manager until June 2006. Narayanan has over 22 years of business development, sales, marketing and engineering operations management experience in the technology industry. Shankar has successfully managed high powered technology teams for many years. He understands the challenges to take technology intensive products and applications to the OEMs and customers. He has extensive experience and knowledge in managing businesses in Asia, Europe and North America and also implementing software and engineering development projects in remote locations such as India. Before co-founding Emuzed, he co-founded and headed Nexus Inc., USA, a networking solutions company. Prior to becoming a serial entrepreneur, Shankar worked as a technical staff, sales and marketing executive and management expert at various levels at British Physical Laboratories, Aurelec Systems, and Nexus computers. Mr. Narayanan has an Electrical and Electronics Degree and a Masters in Marketing and Administration from MK University. Mr. Narayanan currently lives in the Bay Area of California, USA.


Gary Mendel
Vice President, WW Marketing & Sales

Gary Mendel is a recognized international marketing and sales leader with over 20 years experience in the mobile and software industries where he consistently exceeded revenue targets at both Fortune 500 and early stage companies.

Most recently, as an interim executive and advisor, Mr. Mendel commercialized emerging mobile media, applications and content delivery services platforms and mobile social networking technologies for early stage companies Nexage, Sonopia, Hands on Video Relay and other stealth companies.

Mr. Mendel previously served as the Global Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Zi Corporation, a NASDAQ traded provider of predictive text messaging software, where he drove 15 quarters of consecutive revenue growth shipping product on over 100M devices from 98 licensees around the world. He also held executive level positions at Macromedia - VP World-Wide Sales, Mobile and Devices - and at Sybase - Sr. Director of North American Sales, Telecom - where he secured early stage mobile software licensing deals with wireless carriers, handset OEMs and leading mobile infrastructure and applications technology providers.

For over 13 years Mr. Mendel held executive marketing, sales and general management positions with top tier wireless carriers in the United States. At Sprint PCS he launched the sales channels for the San Francisco market building revenues to over $150M and as Sr. Director of the Western Region he lead the team that significantly contributed to a 70% increase in revenue to over $1B. He held various sales and general management positions at AirTouch and McCaw Cellular (Cellular One) managing a P&L in excess of $70M.

Mr. Mendel has an MBA from Baylor University and a B.S. from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. He currently resides in Dublin, CA with his wife and two children.



Venkateswaran K
– VP of Engineering, Founding Member
Venkateswaran (Venkat) is responsible for engineering and product delivery at Spime. Venkateswaran holds double Masters with major in science and software systems from the M K University and BITS respectively. Before joining Spime, he served as a Director of Engineering for Emuzed (which was acquired by Flextronics International), a leader in Mobile phone applications and helped develop various core technologies as well as deliver solutions to tier-1 mobile phone manufacturers. Previously, he led the Dazzle Multimedia software team in India for SCM Microsystems and developed commercially successful retail products. He was also a lead member at Shuttle Technologies (which later got acquired by SCM Microsystems) and pioneered connectivity and mass storage solutions. He also held positions in Aurelec Data Processing Systems and Nexus Computers.

Venkat has worked closely with tier-1 companies such as Sony, Motorola, Samsung, Sandisk, Apple, Iomega, LSI Logic, Flextronics etc., and delivered successful products. Venkat has managed high caliber technology and development teams and has built teams from the ground up to medium and large sized engineering teams. He has tremendous knowledge and experience in engineering processes, TQM and human resource values by nurturing technical excellence and implementing systems and practices. Venkat has been a champion in implementing CMM level 4 processes in his previous incarnations. Venkat understands the complete product development cycle, customer expectations and deployment challenges. Venkat has successfully deployed numerous consumer grade products and applications under major international brand names. Being a software architect himself, Venkat has represented his previous organizations in several bodies. He also actively participates in various technology forums.

Dr. Per Enge
Dr. Per Enge is the Kleiner-Perkins, May-field, Sequoia Capital Professor in the School of Engineering at Stanford University. He is also the Director of the GPS Research Laboratory, which pioneers satellite-based navigation systems for aviation and maritime use. Two of these systems are in widespread use today. Medium frequency beacons are used worldwide to broadcast differential GPS corrections to some 1.5 million users. The first satellite based augmentation system came on line for aviation in the United States in July of 2003, and similar systems are being developed in Europe, Japan and India. Per Enge has received the Kepler, Thurlow and Burka Awards for his work.

Dr.Enge advised the corporations on issues related to wireless communications and avionics. Most significant relationships are with SiRF, Rosum and Dr. Enge also served as an advisory board member at @road in the initial stage which was acquired by Trimble later.

Dr. Enge is also a Member of the National Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the ION and the IEEE. Per holds B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Univ. of Massachusetts, M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Univ. of Illinois and PhD. in Electrical Engineering from the Univ. of Illinois.



Dr. Hartmut Esslinger

Dr. Hartmut is the founder of the famous “Frog Design” of Germany and later he expanded the company to the United States in 1982. Dr. Hartmut was the first designer to bring human-driven, high-touch design to world of complex hardware and software technology. Business Week – where he also was featured on the cover in 1990 - called him the most influential American industrial designer since the 1930s and the first Superstar of High-Tech Design. Hartmut designed some of the most prestigious global companies products IDs and in some cases such as Sony, Apple, Louis Vuitton, SAP and Lufthansa he helped them to convert their technological competences and entrepreneurial desire into global brands.

Together with his partner and wife Patricia Roller he built Frog Design into the world’s most prominent and successful strategic design agency. In 2005, Flextronics acquired the majority of frog and since 2006 frog is a business unit of Aricent, owned by prestigious private equity pioneer KKR. Today, Frog Design employs about 400 strategists, designers and technology specialists in nine studios around the world. Dr. Hartmut also engages in educating and mentoring young designers: he is a founding professor of the Hochschule fuer Gestaltung (College for Design) in Karlsruhe, Germany and since 2006, he is a professor for convergent industrial design at the University for Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria and he received a honorary doctorate in Fine Arts from the Parson School of Design, New York as well as various lifetime awards around the world.



Tushar Dave
Mr. Tushar Dave is a successful serial entrepreneur turned Angel Investor and Venture Capitalist. Mr. Dave pioneered the concept of cross border Indo-US semiconductor design and development in the eighties. All the companies he started and the majority of the startups he funded have been acquired by Premier US companies for superior valuations. Tushar Dave invested in the earlier venture co-founded by Mr. Shankar Narayanan, Emuzed Inc., which was acquired by Flextronics International for millions of Dollars benefiting everyone involved.

Tushar Dave is currently a Co-Founder and Managing Director of NewPath Ventures LLC, a Cross Border Indo-US venture fund. Prior to this he was a Vice President of Business Development at Broadcom Corporation. In this role Tushar was instrumental in helping Broadcom enter new market segments through an aggressive acquisition strategy. He drove several acquisitions worth billions of dollars for Broadcom in the WAN, Broadband, Cellular, and Wireless market segments. In addition, Tushar developed significant strategic relationships with key customers like Cisco, Nortel & others for Broadcom.

Tushar founded Armedia, Inc. in February, 1997 with a vision to establish Armedia as a leading provider of Digital TV solutions. Armedia structured the core marketing, architecture and customer support groups in the US backed by a world-class engineering team in India, resulting in a highly optimized execution engine. As Chairman, President and CEO, he delivered high quality HDTV solutions for several Japnese companies. Broadcom acquired Armedia.

Prior to Armedia, Tushar was a co-founder and Chairman, President and CEO of Arcus Technology, Inc. Arucs was set up with a vision to develop and manufacture state-of-the-art communication products in India. Tushar successfully convinced VLSI Technology (USA) to be the investor as well as the technology provider. As a part of this thrust, Tushar was responsible for entering into relationship with Department of Electronics (India) to set up a network of VLSI design centers in India. Arcus was acquired by Cypress Semiconductor.
